Story of the Meenakshi, one of the beneficiaries of the “Schools into Smiles” Project

Family Background: Her Father Ravi is working as daily wage in a near by company. Her mother Kala is a housewife. She has a younger brother Muniyappan.


Meenakshi, who was identified at initial stage of “Schools into Smiles Project” who did her primary education in Villivakkam Panchayat Union Elementary School in Mugappair. During her initial years the School building, toilets, mid day meal centre and other infrastructure were in dilapidated condition.



Classroom Before & After Renovation

In 2004-2005, the school was identified under “Schools into Smiles” Project and renovated. This has motivated her to attend school regularly and to attain her education dream. It has also helped her to increase her learning. The Cherian Foundation has taken ninety percent of effort in renovation work. The Cherian Foundation as a CSR initiative of Raj Group also helped in conducting various activities like health camps, etc.


Govt. High School, Mugappair
Now She is studying in the Govt. High School

Her aim was to become a Doctor and she assured to help in education to her entire family and to serve the country. She is now studying in 10th Standard in Government High School in West Mugappair. The Cherian Foundation is taking every initiative in motivating her in education.
